Privacy Policy — Kakadu

“Kakadu” is a stool (bowel movement) diary for family members — children and adults. We respect your privacy and collect only the data required for the app to work. We do not use data for tracking, we do not show ads, and we do not sell data to third parties.
Data we collect
Data is stored on our server and linked to your account:
- Email address — to create an account, sign in, and recover access.
- Profile content that you enter yourself: a person's name, optionally their date of birth and sex, and a profile photo if you add one.
- Health-related diary entries that you enter yourself: date and time of a bowel movement, Bristol stool scale type, colour, amount, symptoms, notes, food and medication tags, and photos if you add them. This is sensitive health information; it is stored only to show it back to you and to the people you share the profile with.
- Device identifier (push token) and your time zone — only if you enable push notifications; used to deliver reminders and alerts at your local time.
We do not collect location data, do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and do not track you across apps and websites. Photos are stripped of orientation metadata and are never analysed by any third-party service.
How we use data
- Running the app: authentication, storing and displaying the profiles and diary entries you enter, calendar and statistics.
- Sharing: profiles you share with other users (owner / editor / viewer roles) are visible to those users only.
- Sending reminders and alerts (push and/or email) if you enabled them.
- Generating a report (PDF/CSV) for a doctor at your request; the file is available only to you via a temporary link for 24 hours.
Sign in with Apple / Google
If you use “Sign in with Apple” or “Sign in with Google”, we receive only the account identifier and, with your consent, an email address to create your profile.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing. Data may be processed by our hosting/cloud provider solely to operate the service. Diary data is never sent to any external analysis service.
Retention and deletion
Data is stored while your account exists. You can delete a profile (with a 30-day restore window) or your whole account in the app settings, or by request to the contact email below. After account deletion, data is removed from the server, including photos and generated reports.
Children
The app is intended for parents and guardians. Data about children is entered by an adult account holder. The app is not intended for independent use by children and does not collect data directly from children.
Not medical advice
The app records what you enter and shows summaries and reports. It does not diagnose conditions and is not a substitute for a doctor.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures (HTTPS transport encryption, hashed password storage, private storage with time-limited signed links for photos, optional Face ID / biometric lock in the app) to protect your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as functionality changes. The current version is published at this link.
